Ed Masson – ASTEC SAFETY-Provost

Owner/Operator – Myterra Ventures Inc.
Ed acquired the ASTEC SAFETY-Provost Branch location on May 1, 2015, and operates a full service location as our first Licensee.

Previously the Manager, Training and Program Development for ASTEC SAFETY Inc., Ed brings solid experience and intimate knowledge of what makes ASTEC SAFETY unique in the industry.  He has 8 years instructing at Lakeland College and Olds College in their agriculture and equine departments, and developed several semester courses while at Olds College. Starting with ASTEC in September of 2006 as an instructor, he later took on the role of revising and developing many of ASTEC’s safety courses.

Ed brings with him a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Alberta, and is currently working on his Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education from University of Saskatchewan. In addition to Myterra Ventures Inc, Ed is an avid outdoorsman, operating a family ranch in the Provost area.

RoxyGanserRoxy Ganser
Safety Consultant


Roxy started working with the Astec Safety-Provost team in May of 2016. She brings a strong knowledge of the oil and gas industry’s safety concerns and requirements garnered from years of co-owning and operating a coil tubing service company. Roxy is a certified National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and her main role with Astec Safety is to provide safety programming and consulting services and advice for our clients. She also conducts drug and alcohol testing and has had a significant administrative role in our day to day operations. She has a good understanding of agriculture safety as well, having been involved in a family farm raising bison.
Roxy brings a bright smile, contagious laugh and caring personality to work every day. She enjoys the outdoors, values family time and is a great cheerleader for her children’s sports activities.

Dale_GibbDale Gibb
Safety Instructor & Business Relations

Dale started working with the Astec Safety – Provost team in August of 2016. He brings 25 years of oil and gas field operations experience to his positions of safety training instructor and customer relations specialist. His broad knowledge of oilfield operations has proved very valuable in the Gas Detection, Confined Space Entry/Rescue and H2S Alive courses he instructs and in providing solutions for customer safety needs. In his spare time, Dale, along with his family raise Charolais cattle and help operate the Gibb family farm north of Chauvin, AB. Dale’s interests include safety, agriculture, chuckwagon racing, Nascar, and beach time with his family.

Ron BrookmanRon Brookman
Service Supervisor

In 2005, Astec welcomed Ron onto their shop team as the shop supervisor, with over 20 years prior experience working with high pressure cylinders and regulators. He now looks after a wide variety of shop duties, and oversees the service shop at our Provost location and repairs monitors, air packs, extinguishers. He is certified to conduct fit testing and hydro testing of high pressure cylinders.

Lonnie FordLonnie Ford
Extinguisher Technician


Lonnie started work for Astec Safety in July of 2014. He received his technician training in Lloydminster, then moved to Astec Safety – Provost as our fire extinguisher service technician, manning our mobile service trailer and the shop. He also has the skills needed to calibrate and repair personal gas detection monitors when needed. A strong work ethic and paying attention to detail make Lonnie a valued member of the Provost team.
Being an early morning person, Lonnie usually opens the shop up and makes the first pot of coffee. His interests include raising chickens, archery, hunting and searching for the right old tractor to restore.

Karli Donahue

 Karli Donahue
Contract Instructor

Teaching First Aid as her specialty, Karli acts as one of Astec’s contract instructors. However, Karli did not always hold this position. Starting with the company back in 2005, she originally took on the role of office administrator out of our Provost location for about 5 years. Shortly after, she decided to take a change of pace and become a St. John Ambulance instructor. Karli soon took on the full time role as a First Aid and CPR instructor for Astec. With the huge amount of knowledge and hands on experience, Karli is very valuable to the classroom setting.
